You want to do this thing because you want to help people, but you can’t help people if they’re not finishing the course or program.
So you want to prevent creating the course people buy and never finish.
You’ve experienced this and don’t wanna do it to others: ya get a few modules in, hit a wall, and bounce. This can be prevented with design.
Your clients will get through the places they would normally quit.
What do we actually DO?
You come to the room with your outline and activities and lessons, and in that 90 minutes we’ll build your pacing, your check-ins, and the why behind each piece for the spots where people tend to stall, so they don't get overwhelmed and bail. More people make it to the end, which is the only place the results actually happen.
What you walk away with:
The details you need to actually run the course (live, asynchronous, some sort of hybrid)
Removal of as many potential barriers for your learners
A plan for sticky spots where they might hit a wall
A diagnostic for finding barriers when you’ve got people in there.
Why You?
You’ve got the course outlined and some things built, but no idea where people might get hung up
You’ve bought courses you never finished but aren’t sure where you quit OR
You’ve been told to “just add accountability” but nobody explained that how to be strategic about it OR
You’re planning to just “drip” everything cause that’s what you’ve seen.
You want your people getting the results, which happens if they don’t hit barriers.
You want to feel confident you’re being proactive about accessibility.
Why Me?
First of all, because this works. Completion is a design problem and it’s been studied as one (my dissertation is on it).
Secondly, I’m not just someone with an instructional design background and a PhD. I’ve got the theory and the experience and used both together to do grant funded research AND teach over 3000 adult students across 7 different schools.
I see dead courses before they’re dead.
Why NOT You?
You don't have lessons planned yet. You can’t pace what doesn’t exist. Start with Workshop 4 on November 19th (missed it? We can get it done in a strategy session).
People are getting to the end and not getting the result. That’s the activities, not pacing, and is Workshop 3 on November 5th (again, strategy session is the catch up if you missed it)
You want the gaps found for you. That’s an outline review.
