Workshop 2: Create Your Course Outline for Results

You’re ready to pull the duct tape out to hold your course outline together. You’ve got the content, maybe a pile of outcomes, but it just doesn’t feel right. You can’t figure out what should come first or how any of it connects and you DO NOT want to create a course that collects digital dust.

Instead, your course clients will know exactly how and why the things you’re asking them to do will get them from lesson one to a real result.

What do we actually DO?

You come to the room with the course goals and client results you want and in that 90 minutes we’ll outline the path to at least one goal of the course.

What you walk away with:

  • One goal outlined

  • An actual implementation plan for the rest

  • The overlap check so you’re not building the same thing 4 times

  • Relief that at the shape your course is taking

Why You?

  • You’ve got an outline and it doesn’t feel right

    • you keep rearranging without actually making a decision OR

    • you keep putting things in the order that seems easiest to teach OR

    • you keep looking for the cohesion that isn’t there

  • You want the learning experience to move from lesson one to the result without getting hung up on “why tf am I doing this?” (for you or them)

  • The outline feels like a hurdle that keeps getting bigger because you don’t know where to cut it off.

  • You really just want someone to tell you what to do without being “thou shalt do it exactly this way!”

Why Me?

First of all, because this works. It’s not a new method. The strategies in this session are tried and true (and backed by research) methods for designing learning experiences where people actually, ya know, learn.

Secondly, I’m not just someone with an instructional design background and a PhD. I’ve got the theory and the experience and used both together to do grant funded research AND teach over 3000 adult students across 7 different schools.

I see dead courses before they’re dead.

Why NOT You?

  • You don't have outcomes yet. You need to know what they'll be able to do before you can work backwards from it. That's Workshop 1 of the series on October 8th (missed it? We can get it done in a strategy session)

  • You want this done for you instead of learning to do it yourself. That’s legit. A strategy session is an hour with me driving, and you'll walk out with more than you'd get here. $500.

  • You've already got your steps and tasks broken out and you're stuck on what people actually DO in each one. That's workshop 3.
